Swimming at Holbeach Primary Academy
Swimming is part of the National Curriculum and our aim is for all children by the end of Year 6, to at least achieve the government recommendation of being able to swim 25 metres. To that end the academy has continued to subsidise this opportunity for pupils in throughout Key Stage 2 (Year 3, 4, 5 and 6). Each class in key stage 2 completes haf a term of swimming to ensure they are able to build on their skills week on week. Year 6 children who have not achieved their 25 metres have a further opportunity to take part in an additional half term of TOP UP swimming lessons to ensure they are as water confident as possible.
Throughout their swimming lessons the children enjoy a range of water based activities as well as learning a range of water safety skills as recommended by Swim England. This further supports the children in developing their swimming strokes as well as their water confidence.
Swimming lessons take place at the Castle Complex and Swimming Pool, Spalding.
