Our Curriculum

Curriculum Intent

Holbeach Primary Academy aims to deliver a knowledge-rich, progressive curriculum that fosters creativity, problem-solving, independence, confidence, and high aspirations. Pupils are encouraged to make positive contributions to their community and society. The curriculum promotes personal well-being, resilience, responsibility, and celebrates diversity, spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development. Individual talents are nurtured, and pupils gain cultural capital through varied experiences, preparing them for the next educational phase.

Curriculum Implementation

  • Knowledge maps ensure clarity and progression across year groups.
  • Foundation subjects are taught through termly topics aligned with the National Curriculum, adapted to the academy’s context.
  • Core subjects use varied resources for a bespoke learning experience.
  • Lessons build on prior knowledge; formative and summative assessments identify gaps and support progress.
  • Enrichment opportunities and British values are embedded throughout.
  • Design principles draw on EEF research, cognitive science, and emphasize:
    • Active learning and metacognition
    • Social learning through discussion
    • Regular review and interleaving to combat forgetting.

Curriculum Impact

Pupils leave with strong academic knowledge and an understanding of social, moral, spiritual, and cultural responsibility. They are prepared to contribute positively to society, respectful, ambitious, and eager for lifelong learning.
