Design and Technology at Holbeach Primary Academy
Design and Technology provides a robust understanding of design principles and practical capabilities, ensuring every pupil has the tools to succeed. We promote ingenuity, and expression, enabling them to explore design processes, solve real-world problems, and transform ideas into tangible solutions.
Our Approach
- In Design and Technology, pupils investigate and evaluate significant inventors, innovative products and technological movements across history, global and local communities, materials and social diversity.
- They consider criteria that designers work to, design with the users’ needs and preferences in mind, applying knowledge of practical skills, and evaluate to review and build on their successes.
- Using Kapow alongside our design briefs, pupils work both independently and collaboratively to produce electrical and mechanical systems, create models and textile pieces, and reinforce materials in 3D structures.
Vision in Action
Our DT curriculum fosters innovative problem solvers by immersing pupils in the design cycle: designing making, evaluating and applying technical knowledge.
This comprehensive approach builds resilience, confidence and ingenuity as pupils are equipped to engage with a technological world beyond school and in their future lives.
