Proposed Changes to the RSHE Curriculum – September 2026

We are proposing updates to our Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) curriculum from September 2026. These changes follow a national consultation and reflect the updated statutory guidance issued in 2025.

A letter outlining the proposed updates is available below. The letter includes details of an information session for parents and carers, along with a questionnaire to share views and feedback on the proposed changes.

We encourage parents and carers to review the information and take part in the consultation process.

Relationships, Sex and Health Education

At Holbeach Primary Academy we are all treated fairly and are valued. We love and respect ourselves, others, our academy, and the world around us. Preparing children for life is part of the academy’s Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) programme. To teach the RSHE unit, we use accredited resources (Jigsaw – Changing Me unit). This area of the curriculum teaches children about relationships, sexual differences, health, and personal safety.

Although RSHE is now statutory, we want to ensure that we are teaching the subject to a high standard, preparing children for life now and in the future. Our RSHE curriculum is thorough and empowering and teaches our children about how to respect themselves and others. At Holbeach Primary we are striving to give our children the skills to make good life choices and be compassionate to everyone around them and those they meet in different situations. We want them to develop into good citizens who work hard to make their mark on the world around them in a positive way.
