Willow and Sycamore have partnered together to engage with and drive reading for pleasure in school.
Each child in Willow has been 'buddied up' with a Year 6 child in Sycamore and has the opportunity to read their reading book to them. Sycamore, in return, read the younger child a story book of their choosing.
One of our learning jobs this half term was to complete a science experiment and formally write this up. We looked at what a plant needs to stay alive and then placed one plant in the sunlight and one in a dark cupboard. The pupils in Willow were very good at explaining the differences in the plants and reasons why. We came to the conclusion that plants need sunlight. We have now placed both in the sunlight so watch this space to see if we can bring the plant from the cupboard back to life!
