Important Things You Need To Know
Homework is issued every Friday in your child's yellow homework book. Year 2 are expected to complete 2 pieces each weekly- Topic and either Maths ro English related tasks. Please ensure your child's completed homework is handed by the following Wednesday each week.
If you or your child have any questions regarding a piece of homework, Miss Clayton is available after school to discuss. Additional support can be given to pupils during Homework Club which is held each Tuesday lunchtime.
Occasionally homework may be internet-based such as research or an online game. Access is available, if needed, during Tuesday's Homework Club also.
Reading and Spellings
Each pupil has a reading book and diary that is sent home daily. It is expected that these diaries and books are returned to school the following day as they are also used to communicate messages to parents and to make notes regarding guided or independent reading in school.
Please read 3 times a week with your child (minimum). Diaries will be kept on a Tuesday so that messages can be added and home reading can be montiored. Additional reading is welcome! Please record any reading with a comment and initials. This could include instructions, recipes, leaflets, menus, home books, magazines.......
A set of spellings is recorded in your child's reading diary every Friday. Although pupils do take part in spelling activities in school through the week, please practise with them at home also. Their results will be noted in their diaries the following Tuesday but the children are made aware of them on the day of the test.
PE days for Oak Class:
- Monday (indoor PE)
- Wednesday (outdoor PE)
We ask that there is a full PE kit in school at all times- these will be sent home at the end of each term. Please ensure that as the weather changes, your child has appropriate additional clothing including gloves, a warm hat and a jumper/ tracksuit bottoms.
Earrings should be removed prior to school on a PE day or micropore tape sent in for your child to apply themselves. Hair should be tied up where possible also.
