Welcome to Maple Class
Our class teachers are Mrs Booth and Mrs Moulis . We are very lucky because in our class we also have lots of help from; Miss Kerry, Mrs Rout, Mrs Rasel and Mrs McCreedy.
This term our topic is called Will You Read Me a Story? We will be learning about lots of different fairy tales, goodies and baddies in stories, homes and castles and finishing with a fairy tale celebration. We will be reading the stories of The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, Billy Goats Gruff, Cinderella plus many more.
Phonics- In our phonics lessons we have been learning some more sounds that include digraphs and trigraphs. We will working on our blending skills to read words and segmenting skills to spell words.
Maths- In our maths this term will be working on calculating with numbers to 20 using numicon and tens frames to help us. We will be measuring length and weight and learning more about 2D and 3D shapes.
Reading- Sharing books at home with grown up’s is really important to help develop the speech and communication of your child. We began the term by sending out books with no text in to help initiate verbal discussions based around the pictures of the book and the child’s interpretation. We thoroughly encourage you to spare 5 minutes each evening to complete this task.
Homework- This term the home is split into various challenges based around our Topic. These can be shared either in their homework books provided or directly onto Tapestry. Again, the use of Tapestry is encouraged, and we aim to share any uploads that have been done with the children in class on Friday afternoons.
Spread the Word - We shall continue to work with other local school for our language and communication project with the focus this term being fairy tales.
If you have any questions regarding our learning, or how you can support your child further please do not hesitate to contact one of the Early Years Team.
