 Who Are We?

Mrs Hagon Smith was appointed as our Pastoral Leader in September 2016. Her range of excellent skills and experiences provide high quality support, organisation and provision for our pupils and their parents/carers.

Mrs Hagon Smith and Miss Penney work closely together, alongside Mr Fiddler in his Behavioural TA role, using their skills and expertise to complement each other and provide the very best provision and support for children facing barriers to learning.

Attendance is monitored closely by Mrs Larking and Mrs Hagon-Smith and together they ensure that children are in school and families are supported to overcome any attendance issues.

We like to reward the children for full attendance in the way of Cinema or Bounce tickets and certificates are given out termly to those achieving 100% attendance.

Our supportive team lead in a range of aspects which enable pupils and their families to seek advice, support or guidance.

This team is highly valued and links with all classrooms and teams across the academy.

What Do We Do?

Here at Holbeach Primary Academy , we are commited to creating a caring and nurturing environment for our children and families. In supporting our pupils we help enable their continuing succes in their learning and in their general well-being, making sure that each child is valued as an individual with unique strengths and individual potential.

We are dedicated to listening to our children and families and supporting them through things like falling out with friends, managing their own behaviour, attending school on time or may be coping with difficulties being experienced out of school.

We pride ourselves on working closely with families in order to support them along side partners from outside agencies ensuring families can access the early help they need from the most experienced people.

We like our children to know they have a voice and that their opinion matters. Initiatives such as school council and Junior PCSO’s give children an involvement in how their school runs and provides a listening ear from peers as well as from learning mentors and teachers.

The Pastoral team is available for drop ins and / or meetings that can be arranged at the front office or you can call 01406 422397 and ask to speak to one of our team.

Alternatively you can fill in a Care Guidance and Support Form to request a phone call available from front office or see below.

 Learning Mentors

At Holbeach Primary Academy we have 2 learning mentors Mrs Hagon-Smith and Miss Penney. Both are available to help with any queries you may have but also have specific subject areas.  Mrs Hagon-Smith is our point of contact for E-Safety issues and Miss Penney is our E.A.L ( English as an additional language) co-ordinator. Mrs Hagon- Smith is also responsible for elements of safeguarding within school.

Learning mentors provide support and guidance to children and young people to help them overcome social, emotional and behavioural problems which act as barriers to learning.

Working with vulnerable and challenging young people, learning mentors support children with a variety of needs. We help learners who are underperforming in their subjects on a one-to-one basis outside and inside the classroom, implementing strategies and supporting learners in self-esteem and confidence-building activities.

Learning mentors monitor attendance and punctuality, visit parents at home to discuss issues and problems, and run group sessions and workshops for parents at school.

We can advise parents on behaviour strategies and parenting skills and network with teachers and relevant external agencies. We liaise with relevant professionals and individuals, e.g. educational psychologists, the police and childrens services where appropriate. Part of our role is to help with transition activities for learners moving to secondary schools

Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you require any further information about our team.
