Important Things You Need To Know

Welcome to Ash Tree Class!

In this section we will outline any important information, this will be updated when necessary so please keep checking.

Reading diaries

All pupils have received a new reading diary for the year along with a reading book. These diaries need to be returned to school everyday along with their reading book. When your child is heard read in school this will be recorded in their diary. Please record in the diary whenever your child reads at home - remember this can be any reading not just their school book. Every Thursday diaries will be kept in school in order for a note to be recorded about your child's week.

Parents/ Carers are requested to sign the diary each week. The diary is also another method you can pass on messages about your child, especially if collection arrangements are different.

PE

Our PE days are Tuesday (indoor) and Wednesday (outdoor weather permitting). All pupils are expected to participate in PE lessons and have the appropriate kit. As the weather changes your child will be encouraged to wear tracksuit bottoms and a jumper for outdoor PE. If your child wears earrings please ensure that these are removed or covered for these days. All long hair should be tied back please.

Homework

Homework will be set every Friday and is due in the following Wednesday. Year 2 pupils will be receiving 2 pieces of homework each week along with their spellings. Year 1 pupils will begin with 1 piece of homework and build to 2 pieces as the year progresses. Homework set will be to consolidate the work we have been completing in class or as a form of preparation for the following week's work. Homework will be displayed on this page if for any reason you do not receive the homework on a Friday.

If you have any questions regarding homework please feel free to ask any of the Key Stage One staff.

Homework club is available on a Tuesday lunchtime for pupils who may need some support or if family commitments have prevented your child from completing the homework at home.
