Welcome to Cherry Class

We are a class of Year 3 pupils

Our Class Teacher is Mr Green

Our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Rickers

Welcome back after the Easter holidays.  Hopefully you have all had a relaxing and enjoyable two weeks, not eaten too much chocolate and found out a little bit of information about the USA.  Our themed topic for the Summer Term is Road Trip USA.  As its name suggests this is primarily a History and Geography based topic that looks at the Geography of this huge country and its famous landscapes and people.  Some of the History features the Native American Indians and the Art and DT projects also have a link with the children making 'dreamcatchers' and 'wild west schooners'.  Maths will focus primarily on the 4 operations, extending the children's knowledge and skills into reasoning and problem solving.  Aspects of shape, measurement and statistics will be included to ensure the whole Year 3 curriculum has been fully covered.  In English we will look at Stories with Native American Indian themes and characters, leaflets, diary writing and other forms of poetry.  Science will see the children investigating electricity.  Our class PE days will be Mondays (outdoor) and Fridays (outdoor), so please ensure your child has their kit in school on these days.  Our Computing curriculum will cover Touch Typing and Emails this term using Purple Mash.  We will revisit all the units we have covered this year in our French studies to help the children use and understand the grammar and be able to converse more fluently.

Homework club is held on a Wednesday lunchtime should you have issues at home at any time with getting it completed.  Please continue to help your child complete and sign their weekly diaries.

Other pieces of information you may find useful: Sports Day is scheduled for Friday 18th May 2018 (Key Stage 2 starting at 9:30am) and during the final term of the summer Class 6 will be having swimming lessons at Spalding Swimming Pool, a letter will be sent out next term confirming the dates and asking for parental permission and children's medical details.  Please ensure these are BOTH completed and returned even if your child has no specific medical needs. The Year 3/4/5 trip is on Friday 29th June 2018 where children will be visiting the Food and Farming Event at the Peterborough Showground.  Details will be sent out during the 1st half of the summer term about this.

This will be a very busy term, with a lot of important, and hopefully enjoyable and exciting, learning for the children.  With a bit of luck the weather will be nicer and we can have lots of outdoor learning opportunities too.
